5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

It is a known fact that forests are a crucial part of our biosphere. They give life oxygen, resources, food, and a place to live. The Food & Agriculture Organization of the United Nations serves to protect and rehabilitate these forests. Every year, they invite schools to participate in a debate that argues on topics related to Forestry.

Sapal, Lina, and I were up against debaters from Garden International School, arguing for the resolution: Forestry curriculum should integrate mining and other land-based development issues to promote sustainability.

The experience was fun yet an important one as we discussed issues related to forestry and ultimately raised awareness. We ended up winning the debate yet the points exchanged by both sides were very insightful.
